History of Heritage
The goldsmith family Reimers has its origins in Stralsund in Germany, and the family's ancestor came to Bergen for approx. 1630. Jan Reimers and his descendants were among the most dominant among the Bergen goldsmiths, and were referred to as the Reimers dynasty. Everyone was in different periods, Older men in Bergen's Gullsmedlaug - Norway's oldest guild.
They stood for professional skill and a rich, complex production, inspired by all the styles of the Baroque. They left their mark on the goldsmith's craft in Bergen through three generations.
Many of their works are preserved and can be found both in museums and in private ownership.
