John Howell White has been a practicing artist for over 40 years. His work, in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and egg tempera, have generated paintings that document relationships between sensation and cognition. He has recently shown at the Archer Law Gallery 35 (2019), Provincetown Art Association and Museum (2018), In-Liquid (2017), Jefferson Hospital (2017), the Cotuit Center for the Arts (2016), and Maryland Hall (2014). His studio is currently based in Philadelphia.
He is the author of Experience Painting, a high school textbook published by Davis Publications as well as multiple scholarly articles on the history and theory of art education. He is currently Professor of Art Education at Kutztown University. Dr. White served as Higher Ed Director for the National Art Education Association and as Chair of the NAEA Research Commission. He has received both the NAEA and the PAEA Outstanding Higher Education Art Educator awards.
